DIY Cleaning Recipes

We have found that a common question we get in our DMs is for the recipes to our DIY cleaners. Even though we have done separate posts on each of these, we thought it would be beneficial for you to have them all listed in one place! You know that making your life easier is our number one priority, so here we go friends. Below is listed all of the ingredients needed for our DIY cleaners, how to make them, and a few tips to make them the most beneficial to you. We love these cleaners because they are all free of toxic/harsh chemicals and they are as budget budget-friendly as it comes! You aren't going to find a stain remover for 10 cents on any Walmart shelf, thats for dang sure. But we have brought you one that is made from two simple ingredients that we are almost positive you already have in your home. We hope this post provides you with quality information to help make your home a healthier, happier, cleaner place.

Tub/Shower Cleaner

Ingredients:

1 part Blue Dawn Dish Soap1 part Distilled White Vinegar

How to Make:

  • Heat up vinegar in saucepan or microwave for one minute

  • Poor heated vinegar into a spray bottle and add equal parts of Blue Dawn to the spray bottle and shake well.

  • You can also add ten drops of essential oils if you would like (I have used five drops of Tee Tree and five drops of peppermint before and love it).

Tip: If sprayer gets stuck from the solution being too think, or if you think that the solution seems too soapy, then use 2 parts vinegar and 1 part Blue Dawn.

DO NOT USE if you have a marble shower or natural stone surface.

Stain Remover

Ingredients:

Hydrogen PeroxideBlue Dawn Dishsoap Baking Soda, if needed for scrubbing power (this can also help deodorize)

How to Make:

  • Add 2 parts hydrogen peroxide to 1 part Blue Dawn dish soap, shake to mix, and voila you're done!

All-Purpose Counter Spray

Ingredients:

Distilled WaterBlue Dawn Dish soap

How to make:

  • Fill your bottle with distilled water, add 2 tsp. Blue Dawn dish soap, shake, and enjoy! The great thing about this solution is that it is gentle and safe on all surfaces.

Dusting Spray

Ingredients:1 cup distilled water 3 tsp. Castille Pure Soap 1 TBS. Virgin Olive Oil

How to Make:

  • Pour the ingredients into your spray bottle, shake, and enjoy!

Tip: Wipe your surface off with a dry rag before beginning to dust (so that you don't just smear the dust around) then spray the solution onto our microfiber cloth and dust in an S-formation.

Dusting Spray for Baseboards

Ingredients:

4 cups distilled water1 TBS. Pure Castille Soap

How to make:

  • Pour the ingredients into your spray bottle, shake and enjoy!

or

  • Use the all-purpose spray that is listed above.

Tip: Remove dust first with a vacuum or dry rag. Spray your rag then scrub. If needed, break out the Mr. Clean Bar (be gentle when scrubbing so that you don't remove the sheen from your paint). Make sure to dry the surface with a dry microfiber cloth after you are finished cleaning it.

Grout

  • Mix 1/4 cup Oxi Clean and 1 cup warm water.

  • Pour along grout and scrub with one of our favorite power tools.

  • You can also use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser after you are finished scrubbing.
